University College Durham Trust
University College Durham Trust is the College’s independent charitable fund (no.1151821).
The Trust was set up in 1990 by Albert Cartmel, Ted Salthouse, John Hollier and Neville Pearson to enable friends and alumni of Castle to give financial support directly to the College for the benefit of current and future students.
Since its establishment, the Trust has supported Castle through a range of student hardship funds, scholarships and internships, as well as ensuring that we have funds to help preserve the heritage and fabric of College buildings for generations to come. The Trust’s funding has been essential in enabling us to renovate the West Courtyard areas, to extend the Lowe Library, to restore the Tunstall Chapel and to construct the Fellow’s Garden offices and student rooms.
The University College Durham Trust is registered with the Charities Commission, more information can be found here.
