Volunteer
There are many ways in which you can help Castle and make a meaningful difference to our community. Becoming an alumni volunteer can be a rewarding and stimulating experience. It is also an excellent way to re-engage with your friends and the College!
Sharing Career Advice
From volunteering to take part in career events, panels and seminars to offering personalised advice to students through Career Mentoring, there are a number of ways you can help share your knowledge and expertise.
Please get in touch to find out about the latest opportunities or to simply let us know that you are interested in helping out!
Becoming an Alumni Leader
Both the Durham Castle Society and the University College Durham Trust are run by elected alumni volunteers. Elections are usually held in tandem with the annual reunion weekend at Castle. There are also opportunities to support the Principal’s plans by volunteering on the College Advisory Board. The Castle Society leadership team and the Trustees each meet twice annually, while the College Advisory Board meets quarterly.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or if you would wish to be considered for one of these important positions in the future.
Hospitality Volunteer
Over the years, we have been able to hold a number of networking events, thanks to the support of our alumni community who have offered space for informal gatherings.
If you have access to an interesting venue or can offer free venue space in a major city, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Guest Speaker Opportunities
Alumni often come back to campus to deliver a guest lecture to current students or to talk about their careers.
If you feel that you might be able to get involved in speaking either to students or fellow alumni, please get in touch.
Writing for the Castellum
Our alumni magazine is edited by Alex Nelson, a Castle alumnus and an active volunteer leader. Alex has been involved in creating this important historical record for more than 30 years.
We rely on alumni articles and news stories to bring our magazine to life, so if there are any updates you would like to share, please let us know!
Please get in touch with Alex if you would like to help or find out more.
